What I find extremely satisfying about this stage of my career is that I’m able to affect change. That’s because I work for a company that is made up of a collective group of innovators and visionaries who embrace the pace of innovation and advances in technology to make changes that drive better outcomes for us all.
We believe that there is the know-how and tech available today to solve many, if not most, of the world’s problems.
Having sold mainframes – yes mainframes – as a broker, a partner and as an IBM’er for the past 30 years I have seen how much can be served to so many by so little and yet, so few fully understand it’s massive capabilities. I have seen how it has been transformed from a huge monolithic dinosaur to a server that can run everything from Linux to Docker Kubernetes to Java to Juju and OpenStack; support AI and machine learning, consolidate hundreds of physical servers, reduce power and cooling and CO2 output, secure and encrypt and run Blockchain to change the lives of thousands, potentially millions of impoverished people globally.
Our collaborative outlook has helped me gain a perspective in how the technology business can be adapted to make the world a better place. I believe a culture of collaboration based on technical innovation, nurtured through entrepreneurial leadership supported by visionaries and a network of tech-heads will make a difference to all of us!
