Kevin has spent over 30 year working in Local Government IT, progressing from a programmer to his current position as ICT Strategic Solutions and Systems Manager. In this role he is responsible for the strategic direction of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s ICT service and over 60 development and support staff. The Council is one of the largest ICT providers in the region delivering all aspects of ICT managed by specialised technical staff with expertise in virtualised infrastructure, enterprise storage, networking, security, application development and application support.
Innovation is at the heart of the Council, which is always looking at new ways to deliver services and understand how new and emerging technology can improve services to residents and save on stretched budgets.
Social care presents a number of opportunities where digital services can help people to live better lives and this is a key area that Kevin is championing with Health partners across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Complementing the Tech Expo Humber, East Riding of Yorkshire Council – alongside the four regional Care Commissioning Groups and the University of Hull – is hosting the Humber Care Tech Challenge (www.humbercaretech.co.uk) at the beginning of October. This demonstrates the exciting opportunities there are within the social care sector by using innovation to make a real difference to people’s lives.
